Never Too Late is short biopic about passion and determination. We find ourselves face to face in the ring with Ulysses “The Monster” Diaz as he tells his incredible story of pain and perseverance. Diaz is an accomplished boxer and a bare knuckle fighter most famously known for holding the world’s fastest knock out in sports combat history ( 3 seconds!) made official by Guiness World Records. From prison time to becoming head of security for his child hood best friend Pitbull, Diaz has had one hell of a ride so far that seems to have just started.

Having originally pursued a career in aviation rather than listening to his creative side, Robert soon realised that life in the flightdeck was missing something – real human connections and interactions.
2020 was a year in which it became clear for him that the pursuit of creativity and becoming a visual storyteller was key.
Co-founding the storytelling studio, Impact, in Lecco, Northern Italy, Robert is driven to helping companies transform their communication to one of care, awareness, and sustainability.
Towards the end of 2021, Robert will move to Boulder, CO, to grow Impact with his partner Lila, and to pursue purpose-driven storytelling surrounded with like-minded people.
Director Statement
Having met Matteo and got a small understanding of who he was, we wanted to stray away from the typical path of showing a professional with a typical triumphant success story, oftentimes unrelatable to a normal everyday life audience. Therefore, we decided to bring a level of humanness to the story, with a direction that didn’t rely on him getting to the end or not.

Elevate tells the story of Matteo Manfron’s attempt on the Genoa – Mont Blanc record, a gruelling ~300km challenge that brings you from Genoa to Courmayeur by bicycle, and by foot for the rest of the climb to the top of Mont Blanc.
The film highlights the importance of teamwork & acceptance, and brings light to the other areas of taking on challenges, not just winning.
Elevate plays on the verb ‘to elevate’, as in to raise oneself higher by taking on challenges in life; and ‘elevation’, the massive elevation change between Genoa and Europe’s tallest mountain.

News & Reviews

Guillermo Alfonso is a film maker from Miami with a unique style of storytelling. Usually niche and quirky, Alfonso likes to take the viewer on a journey normally inaccessible. From the Yamakoshi Mountains of Japan filming koi fish to the mean streets of Nigeria filming African religions, we always get a sense of understanding and appreciation of where these stories come from through Alfonso’s lens. He is able to keep you locked in with his beautiful imagery and take on cinema, yet take you on an emotional roller coaster with the topics and casts.

I have been filming my friend Uly Diaz for over 3 years. I was finally able to put the story together and I couldn’t be any more proud of how he told it. I hope this film inspires and motivates people and that we all realize that it’s never too late to really go after our passion in life.
